Ian began
his career in 1993 after graduating from Hahnemann University's Master of Physical Therapy program in Philadelphia,
Pa.
He worked in 1993 and 1994 as a staff physical therapist at Delaware Valley PT Associates in Lawrenceville,
NJ. He then went on to manage two offices in Bucks County from 1994 through 1999 in Buckingham and Newtown, Pa
for Pro-Care Physical Rehabilitation and Fitness, Inc.
In 1999, Ian became co-owner of Atlas Physical
Therapy, P.C. with physical therapy offices continuing at the Buckingham and Newtown, Pa.
Ian received his certification in manual therapy from The University
of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2002 (www.usa.edu).
Certification is a culmination of 8 separtate courses followed by an oral, written, and practical
test on various manual therapy techniques including soft tissue and joint manipulation, myofascial release, and exercise prescription.
Ian is the only certified manual therapist of The University of Saint Augustine For Health Sciences in Bucks county. If you are interested in the course requirements for certification in manual therapy, you may click on the
following link: www.usa.edu/mtc.asp.
Most recently, Ian has started a new venture on his own with physical therapy services
offered inside of a state of the art personal training gym - ATP Performance and Fitness Club (www.atpfit.com).
Ian's patients
continue to receive 25 to 30 minutes or more of one-on-one care in addition to all traditional physical therapy modalities
and exercises. This comprehensive approach is important to maximize results and speed recovery.
Pain is often caused by a mechanical block to movement, or movement dysfunction (too much or too
little movement). Manual therapy techniques along with therapeutic exercise, postural re-education, and traditional
physical therapy modalities offer a comprehensive approach which treats the cause of the problem (the
dysfunction).
When movement is restored, pain is reduced and often eliminated. Untreated
dysfunctions are the primary cause for osteoarthritis (OA) and degenerative joint disease (DJD).
Each patient has the same therapist from their initial visit to the completion of their rehabilitation program.
We take this approach because we know how important individualized care is to successful rehabilitation.
